Bulletin #194a      June's Home Page - click here

My dear friend,

It feels as if I’m on a roller coaster right now with the scenery changing every moment! But, I know that happens at the start of any cancer diagnosis. Things will settle down. It encourages me to know you are riding this roller coaster with me. Thank you for praying.

Yesterday Dr. Richie-Gillespie did a biopsy of my forearm. I was impressed with the good care I received at the hospital in the day surgery unit. The doctors and nurses were very friendly and warm, and took care of me with competence and care.

The frozen section taken at the time of the operation showed a malignant sarcoma of the muscle. As we thought, this is a serious diagnosis. The tumor is aggressive and Dr. Richie-Gillespie told us that chemotherapy and radiation are both needed to shrink the tumor.  So, it seems as if chemo will be the first thing I’m facing.

Today I had a CAT scan to check for any spread of the tumor. I won’t hear the results of the scan until November 7th when I see an oncology doctor, Dr. Juarez, at my local hospital. I met her before and like her very much.  Dr. Richie-Gillespie will work with her in managing my treatment. I am so grateful to God for providing these wonderful doctors.

Please continue to pray for strength day by day as the roller coaster lurches on its way.

It does me good to know you’re praying and I appreciate you lots.

Lots of love,

June
