PROUD Down's syndrome Support Group held a one
day Makaton course on Saturday 14th May at St.Thomas Annexe.
The course was led by Emily Nichols who kindly
offered her services free of charge for us to run this course. A big Thank
you to Emily for her enthusiasm and encouragement to helping the parents all
get motivated with using Makaton.
Makaton is sign language used with speech to
help children with learning difficulties with communication and helps
encourage their speech and language.
The course was attended by 15 new parents from
the PROUD group ( including grandparents and godmothers!)
Thanks to Pat Bodin for doing the food for us
and also to our helpers from the Parish Church and Tynings Lane who helped
organise the children's activities for the day, while the parents did the
course.
Thanks to St.Thomas' Church for letting us use
the Annexe.
