                            Lee and Becky Plummer living and working in Hope Foster Home Beijing, China.

                  Lee & Becky flew out to China on 1st September 2005 to begin their work at The Hope Foster Home.

The Hope Foster Home in Shun Yi County,  Beijing, China, cares for sick and physically disabled babies who have been abandoned. The babies all come from private or government run Children's Welfare Institutes close to Beijing.

The owners of the home, Dr. Joyce Hill, a family medical practitioner and her husband, Robin have a vision to provide the children with long term care in a caring and secure environment. The home also seeks to find out the very best medical solution for their handicap and facilitate the treatment. Robin and Joyce work closely with the local Children's Welfare Institutes to give these children the greatest opportunities for the future and raise the awareness of the needs of these abandoned children in China.
Over the past 5 years the care provided by the foster home has seen many babies’ lives not only saved but also changed as they have been adopted into families across the world. 

The success of the home and the vision of the Hills has led to a number of recent developments including a Special care unit in Henan province (800km from Beijing) and a second home, plus an extensive fostering programme in the local area.

Robin and Joyce are committed Christians who run HFH with Christian values at the forefront. Their commitment to the children they work with is to ‘comfort always, relieve often, save sometimes’ (Palliative Unit motto)

HFH is non-profit making and relies completely on donations of money and supplies, plus volunteers who offer their time and skills.


Where do we fit in?
We are members of Aldridge Parish Church and Holy Trinity Clayhanger and have been part of the leadership team for Aldridge Youth Fellowship for the last five years.
During that time we have had
 the privilege of taking two groups of young people to visit Hope Foster Home, with the aim of supporting those in need, learning what it means to serve others, experiencing another culture and
 to inspire these young people in overseas mission.

HFH employs and trains local staff and encourages volunteers to get involved with the work of
the home.
On our last visit in August 2004, Robin and Joyce Hill offered us the opportunity to work
at HFH to support the growing demands of the work that they do, especially as the work of the
 home now covers a variety of sites.

Becky was one of the wardens at Holy Trinity Clayhanger and Lee led the worship team and together they ran the Housegroup. They were both involved in the running of services in leading and preaching with Becky helping out in “Pebbles” children’s group for under 5’s.


What our roles will be:

Becky

  • To continue and develop the work of a kindergarten for 2-5 year olds,
  • With the possibility of expanding the structure to include the younger children and children of the nannies who work at the home.

 Lee

  • To assist in the on going maintenance of the HFH and related sites,
  • And take responsibility for the organisation and facilitation of volunteer group programmes.

Together

·         Look after the pastoral and social needs of volunteers who come to HFH for short or extended periods of time,

·         And develop relationships with volunteers to support their work in a foreign environment.

 

Our aim is to remain at HFH for at least 12 months but we are open to this being extended in order to provide consistency in supporting the home and developing these areas.
