December 2006
My dear friend
My mother, Dorothy Owen, died
this morning. What can I say... I'm thankful for her life and
I'll miss her. I'm very grateful to the Lord that she enjoyed
her last year in a wonderful residential care home. She was
loved and appreciated by staff and residents. My mother
befriended an almost blind and deaf lady who was confined to a
wheelchair---pray for Mary who will miss her. She also tried to
help some of the staff learn English, by teaching them new words
each day and correcting "bad" words. I wish I could have been a
fly on the wall for that :-) I am thankful to be able to tell
you that the friends who visited my mother and helped her in all
kinds of ways are sure she responded to Christ as much as she
was able. Both Geri and Shirley prayed with my mother when they
dropped in to see her. So, much praise to the Lord for giving my
mother 95 years, and speaking to her of His love, especially
through the faithfulness of Geri and Colin and Shirley and Peter
and Anthea. |
I want to thank you too, as
well as give praise to God. Many who read about my mother began
to pray. And, God is faithful. He loves to answer prayer and I
believe He said a resounding "Yes!" many times. I am very
thankful to God for giving me friends like you! You lifted me
out of several holes that I fell in, as I tried to help her.
Thank you.
The funeral service will
probably be after Christmas and before New Year. Pray please for
me as I look for the right dates and fares for travel. It is a
busy and expensive time of year to go to England, and I have
used all my frequent flier miles on the last visit. I'm sure God
will open the way once I know the time frame.
One other thing to mention. I
am still trying to sell the mobile home to Gary, who has
expressed interest, and is getting his funds together. Wouldn't
it be great if this could happen while I am in England! Would
you please pray for God's best in all of that, too?
It is good to have David Ringer
here. We have been making plans cheerfully for work on Papua New
Guinea publicity, as well as laying the ground work for the
Cameroon publicity trip for media students. More of this next
year. David has accepted a two-year assignment to work here in
Dallas. You can meet David by checking into his web log (blog),
if you are able to do that. Log onto http://djringer.blogspot.com
or type in Translation Beat on Google.
Thank you for reading to the
end of this bulletin at such a busy time of year. You deserve a
prize and all I have offered are prayer requests. Oh, dear!
But, may God give you joy this
Christmas time as you celebrate Him, and may He meet your needs
both now and in 2007.
With lots of love and
appreciation,
June |
