Happy Thanksgiving! As I look back on the adventures of
the past year, I’m warm with thankfulness. And—I’m thankful to
God especially for you!
I’m thankful that “Living Word in Papua New Guinea”—the full-color
booklet David and I’ve been working on—arrived from the
printers. We held a stuff-the-booklet-into-the
envelopes-and-boxes party one Saturday in Dallas, preparing more
than 27,000 copies for world-wide distribution.
A group of students from Le Tourneau University came to help,
and there were many Wycliffe volunteers, too. It was fun. I
enjoyed the happy buzz of chatter and laughter as we worked.
My friends, Carle and Victoria Gustavison, with whom I worked in
PNG, masterminded the packing process. Pray the booklet will
encourage readers to care about the people of Papua New Guinea
who still wait for God’s talk in their own language.

I’m glad David’s back in the States after his time in Papua New
Guinea, and looking forward to hearing of his adventures when we
catch up in December.
We’ll continue to work together on PNG publicity when he comes
to Dallas. Right now he’s having a well-earned break.
I’m grateful for the health and stamina I have and for
encouragement to live at a more relaxed pace! A few weeks ago I
struggled with a mix of chest
infection and asthma, but I am beginning to recover some of the missing
25% of strength. Yes! Being mature is a challenge, I find, but
know there is life
in the old dog yet… I do have more specialist doctor visits to
make, though, so please go on praying for solutions.
It is a relief and matter for huge thankfulness that my mother
is happy in residential care. Thank you, God! I’m trying to sell
her mobile home. Two previous attempts have fallen through.
Please pray for Gary, who is considering the purchase. My mother
is still paying ground rent and I would like to stop that as
soon as possible. I don’t want to waste her meager resources.
There’s another reason for thanksgiving this year. As you know,
my dear friends, Brian and Val Hodgkin and family, are staying
with me. While my home
seems full to overflowing, there are many blessings in having their good
company. And, there are extra blessings. Brian has transformed
the flowerbeds,
splashing color around, while Val has gone with me to medical
appointments. The girls make things lively.
I’m enjoying having friends in my home for the Thanksgiving
holiday!
I haven’t run out of thanks yet, but I will stop in time to send
this to you!
With love and appreciation,
