John & Judie Visit Aldridge - January 2005

John was Rector at Aldridge Parish Church following our return from ministry in Argentina in 1982.  He was later appointed
Anglican Bishop of Paraguay, and we came to live here in 1988 and have been part of it's busy diocesan life ever since!
Our work takes us to the Paraguayan Chaco, where we have many churches and indigenous leaders amongst the large Southern
Enxet tribe and with 2 other smaller tribal groups - Sanapana and Angaite.
There is ministry in Concepcion, a city up river from Asuncion, where our auxiliary bishop Andres Rodriguez is based.
From Concepcion the work extends into rural areas amongst both indigenous and campesino people.

In Asuncion, there is a varied work with 2 schools and a University Faculty, several local churches with national clergy,  mainly amongst the more marginalized sections of society, but beginning to break into the more middle class areas. There are regular Marriage Encounter weekends,
with corresponding follow up,  and Youth in the Spirit programmes, also with ongoing evangelistic and discipleship meetings.
By the grace of God we are therefore involved with all sectors of Paraguayan society.
Very diverse and demanding but exciting to see God transforming lives!
