Fu Jin Jin |
2 new babies have been transferred from our PCU unit to our Beijing home. Fu Gao Fei has recovered from her surgery last month but will be admitted in the next few days to have a shunt inserted to relieve the increasing pressure in her head. Fu Gao Mei has been transferred for surgery on her myelomeningocele. This has meant that Fu Zhi Xiu has returned to the PCU. This is a temporary arrangement just to free up a bed and it is planned that she will join our outreach program when a space becomes available later this year. Fu Jin Jin will also be admitted to attempt another shunt insertion to relieve her hydrocephalus. |
2) Love Without Boundaries Shunyi Outreach Foster Program. ( currently 15 children with possible maximum of 20)
|
Two children have joined
the outreach program this month. Li
Lian and
Shan Le Zhong
have joined two families in this program.

| 3) HFH Special Care Unit, Jiaozuo, Henan Province: ( 12 beds) |
|
There were three children admitted this month. Fu Jiang Xi (Heart condition, respiratory problems, malnourished) died within hours of being admitted. Fu Guo Che ( Cranial Meningocele) and Fu Jiang Rong (premature. poor feeder) were also admitted. Due to the need for beds, Fu Gao Shang (cleft lip/palate) was returned to the orphanage but he is still scheduled for surgery in October. We are trying very hard to enable Chen Chen to have her liver transplant in the US as soon as possible. She is doing very well in the mean time and is putting on weight. Total admission to date is 78 and 32 have died. |
Volunteers.
We have had a number of volunteers working in the unit this month. Jennifer L and Jaisy D volunteered at the beginning of the month and were replaced by Christina B, Imee H, and Julie S (who returns after volunteering early last year)
4) LWB Special Care Unit ( 12 beds)
All children are well. We await the arrival of two Singaporean physiotherapists next month who will train local staff.
5) HFH Special Care Unit, Luoyang, Henan Province: (45 beds)
The renovation is completed according to schedule and the unit looks great. We are very grateful to the donors who have made this possible for us to be able to save the lives of many more children and love and comfort the ones we cannot save. The next few weeks will be filled with furnishing the unit, interviewing, employing and training the staff, and bring in the babies.
Our Most Sincere Thanks To;
1 ) Toby, Jing and Simon for handling the Luo Yang renovations in such a professional way.
2) Jessica D and Barbara G for their care of the children in Hong Kong.
3) Lauren S who volunteered for a month with us here.
4) Jeannie B for the huge amount of supplies donated.
5) Helen G for bringing much needed medical supplies from the UK
Our Needs:
1) With the opening of the new Luo Yang unit, our monthly outgoings will increase by US$12,000.
2) There are many more rooms that can be sponsored if anyone feels so inclined. Most recently the kitchen has been sponsored in memory of a child from Luoyang who passed away.
3) There is medical equipment to be bought such as incubators, suction units, oxygen tanks etc so any donations, large or small would be gratefully received. All this equipment can be bought locally at no great cost.
With gratitude
Joyce and Robin Hill
