Dear Friends and Supporters,
This month has been fairly chaotic arranging surgeries for
several children. 18 children were transported to 7 different
locations for various surgeries. 2 were rejected and 3 are
waiting. Please see below. We have so many people to thank this
month. We deeply appreciate everyone’s contribution to help
better the lives of these babies. We also truly appreciate the
tender care of our nannies and volunteers towards their babies.
They spent long tiring hours of travel and sleepless nights.
They are very valuable members of our team.
Children who received treatment this month
1) Hong Kong Matilda International Hospital:
Jayne:
needs 3 surgeries, on her bowel and urinary system.
Benjamin: needs 2
surgeries for his bladder and pelvic bones. They are both in
Hong Kong. We thank volunteers Ariel, Sylvia and Rose for caring
for them, Jeff and Angie B for covering the cost of their travel
and Matilda Foundation, the surgeons and staff who have made
this possible by donating their time and services. .

2)
Hong Kong Adventist Hospital:
Sting
who was admitted to a local hospital here for a bowel surgery
had to be rushed to Hong Kong as he developed serious
complications. He was stabilized in Hong Kong and has returned
to us. He will need to return to Hong Kong in 3 months to have
surgery again. We thank Peggy W for caring for him, the surgeons
and staff of Adventist hospital and JT for covering the cost of
his treatment.

3) Shanghai
Patrick, Wendy, and Taylor
all had neurosurgery in Shanghai Children’s Medical Center with
visiting UCLA surgeon, Dr Lazareff and his team in conjunction
with Dr Bao and his local team in Shanghai. We thank Dawn C
(Singapore) for covering the costs for Patrick, Edward C. ( HK)
for Wendy and Grace ( Shanghai) for Taylor .Lan
Jiao was also sent to SCMC for bowel surgery and we
thank LWB for covering her costs.

4)
Nanchang:
Joseph, Mark, and Lucia
had plastic surgery with a visiting US team ( CCPF)
. Costs for these 3 children’s surgeries have not
been covered by anyone. Please see our “Needs” below.
Sara,
because of the complexity of her defect and
Ronnie, because of a
chest infection, were rejected. We hope to be able to arrange
overseas surgery for Sara in the near future as her repair may
require staged surgeries to be able to achieve a good repair.

5)
Luoyang:
Cindy, Julie and Samuel
from both our Special Care Units had one-time- only
neurosurgeries to close their spinal defects in the hope that
they will survive even though their long term prognosis may not
be good. We feel that we should at least try to save them and
hope for the best. Daniel is waiting for his surgery. No one has
sponsored their surgeries Please see “ Needs” below.

6) Hangzhou
Charles
who has a complex heart defect,
was sent to Hangzhou. He has been investigated and he
will be able to have surgery when he is 8 months old.

7) Los Angeles
Sarah
arrived in Los Angeles and has been seen by the transplant team
there. The good news is that her transplant can probably wait
till after her adoption is finalized, but if there is any need
to bring it forward everything is in place to save her. We thank
Gregg and Cindy M. for their astounding generosity towards
making this happen. Sarah is safe with here parent-to-be for the
moment. We thank Marty and Jennifer D for providing her airfare
and Marsha M. for taking time away from her family to accompany
Sarah to the US.

hope will be finalized early next month.

for him in Singapore. Maggie
