Update April 2006
Dear Friends and Supporters,
This month has been a busy one for surgeries and medical problems. We have expanded the Shunyi base in Beijing from 12 beds to 38 beds over the past 3 years and it is at a point that we will not be able expand any more than this. In Shunyi, including the children in the Outreach Program , we currently care for 50 children.
Our “waiting list” is down to 5 children. We have been informed of the possible adoption of 2 of our kids sometime this year and we wait expectantly for the families to come and collect their children. Our hope now is to see if doors open in the poorer provinces to allow HFH to expand the work where children are most in need.

We have had 2 deaths here this month, Oliver Fu Zi Guo( Congenital heart disease, Complex chromosomal Syndrome) ) and Fu Gao Shan.( severe cloacal exstrophy) died peacefully. We also had 2 admissions and our beds are full again.
Volunteers.
Dr Lim and his wife (a nurse) from Australia volunteered here and their help was very much appreciated. Gemma R. is back with us and she is currently running the unit
4) LWB Special Care Unit ( 12 beds)
We have dubbed this wing the Bouncing Bunnies wing (the other 2 wings are the “ Nemo” and “Pooh Bear” wings) and a local artist has been in to paint Peter Rabbit murals on the walls. The unit is running well and Physiotherapy volunteer Bill C. from the US has done a great job with the PT assessments and getting equipment. This is still an on going process but the kids and nannies are settled.

5) HFH Special Care Unit, Luoyang, Henan Province: ( 45 beds)
We will travel there in the first week of May to work out the details of renovating and running this unit
