Hello, Thank you for your prayers and support. I hope you’re all keeping well; here is an update on the last newsletter and what I have been doing during the summer holidays.
My first
year went very well, I have enjoyed the challenge of living away
from home, making new friends and learning more about Gods word. Just before the end of last term I went to Guy Marsh Prison with three guys in my class to do a practical assignment. We planned and led one of their Sunday services on the 13th of June. The service was looking at ‘God as our loving Father’. The service went really well and quite a few of the prisoners attended which was great. God really moved during the service and a couple of the guys stayed behind afterwards because they were thinking about becoming Christians. We had some really good conversations with them and some of us are planning to go back to do another service next year. Over the summer holidays I have been working at college where we have been hosting church house parties, conferences and even weddings! We cleaned rooms, washed-up, did the laundry, gardening, painted and decorated the student lounge, been a waitress and I even learnt how to drive a tractor so we could cut the grass and transport chairs and tables to different buildings for various functions! My second year will become a little more specialised in that I will be mainly focussing on Pastoral and Cross-cultural studies. My weekly placement needs to reflect this and due to this it could be in either a church or it could be more secular work. As part of this training I will be doing a block placement after Christmas where I will take a term out of college to work for a Christian organisation anywhere in Britain that again will reflect my courses. Both my weekly and block work placements still need to be decided so I would value your prayers on this matter so I can choose jobs that I will benefit from and give me the experiences I need for my future work.
Another subject I would
value your prayers for are my finances. My first year was good
as I had enough resources saved from when I was working. I also
received some help from a few people at church for which I am
extremely grateful. Unfortunately my savings have all been used
and although I do have some help it is not enough for the year.
Your prayers on this matter are much appreciated.
Thank you again for
your prayers and support. Lots of love Hannah x |
