| Hello, | ||

I shall start by telling you about my Easter holidays. I spent a week in Romania, which was very different but interesting and exciting. I went with a team of seven people from Tynings Lane Church led by Phil and Val Stratton of Hand In Hand In Union. We worked with Ken and Florence Holmes who run a Vineyard church out there. Here is just a brief daily outline on what we did. On Maundy Thursday we cleared rubbish and broken electrical equipment out of the village hall and then cleaned it. On Good Friday we led the service and got ready for the children's fun day that we had on Saturday. We had quite a few children come to the fun day, which was great. We did cooking and craft activities with them, it was wonderful to see the smiles on their faces and hear their laughter. On Sunday we led the service, after which we put on a meal for the entire congregation, which we had cooked early in the morning. Once the meal had finished we did face painting for the children, which they enjoyed very much. On Monday we delivered food parcels to the housebound and the elderly who couldn't come to the services. Tuesday morning we went to have a look in the main town then spent the rest of the day relaxing before the journey home the next day. A couple of weeks after I got back to college I had my preaching assessment. On Monday the 3rd of May I preached to half of my class on Colossians 1:21-23. It was the first time I have ever preached and I was really nervous to begin with. Once I got into it though I relaxed and started to enjoy it. Overall I think it went well and I got some good feed back from my tutor. On Saturday the 22nd of May until Sunday the 30th of May I went to Tattenhall in Chester with a group of seven other people for our yearly college mission. While we were there we worked with Tattenhall Christian Fellowship, a small rural evangelical church. Church members welcomed us into their homes for the week. We stayed in pairs with some lovely families who looked after us well. We led the Sunday morning services and took the children’s groups. During weekdays we went into the local primary and secondary schools to take the assemblies and religious education lessons. These went really well and I enjoyed talking to the children and teachers about my faith. Other things we did were visiting Age Concern where we shared our testimonies and had tea together. We also painted someone’s bathroom, made some pastoral visits to the local people and church congregation and led the TCF Youth Group sessions on the Sunday evenings. The whole week went really well and I enjoyed the experience, working and learning new things. On Sunday the 20th of June at 6:00 I am leading the evening service at Durrington Free Church. I have never led a church service before so your prayers for this will be much appreciated! One other prayer point I do have is about my asthma. For the last month or so I have been having problems with my breathing and have had to go to the hospital to get it sorted out. I would be very grateful if you could pray that I won’t have any more problems with it and that the medication I have been given will be successful. During the summer I hope to be staying at college where I will be working during various church conferences. My duties will include cleaning, waitressing and kitchen duties. I will be home for two weeks at the beginning of August. Thank you again for your prayers and support. Lots of love Hannah x |
