Sunday 4th July 2004 - Anchor Meadow - Aldridge

Dependence Day was the bringing the Aldridge churches and wider community together, for a day of fun and fellowship on Anchor Meadow. This was the second year for this event, the last one in 2003 which was so successful.

The day started at 10.30am with a family outdoor service which featured contributions from the various churches, including songs from the Witness musical as well as a children’s choir.

After the morning service, we enjoyed a picnic lunch and barbeque, and then had an afternoon of family games, bouncy castles, parachute games, It’s A Knockout, 5-a-side football, craft activities, face-painting etc. Those who weren't feeling particularity energetic, simply relaxed in the afternoon sunshine.

This was a real happy fellowship family time, and we are so grateful to all those who worked so hard to put this event on.

At 6pm Joe Ridgley from Operation Mobilisation introduced  ‘House of God – Inside – Out in the Open’, a magazine style celebration aimed at teenagers and young people. It featured the skills of Joe as well as House Music from our guest DJs. This part of the day was specifically designed to be accessible to those with little or no church background.

The day finished at 7.30pm, in time for those who wanted, to get  home for the Euro 2004 final…

Without the hard work that went into this event, the day wouldn't have been so successful again, and we want to thank the Aldridge team that worked so tirelessly to make it a thoroughly enjoyable day. It was a tremendous witness to our community, and it was just great having the churches of Aldridge come together again, and show unity, and more importantly, God's love.
