Aldridge Parish Church Open Door 2008
Open Door is an initiative
that has been run for several years inviting Year 4 (ages 8-9)
children from local primary schools into the Parish Church for a
full day of worship, activities, learning and lots of fun.
This year, Open Door ran on
Tuesday 29th, Wednesday 30th & Thursday 31st January with
over 300
children from 6 local primary schools attending! Our biggest
‘Open Door’ Ever!
The schools that attended
were Cooper & Jordan Primary School, Leighswood Primary School,
Whetstone Field Primary School,
St James’ Primary School (Brownhills), Meadow View JMI School (Great Barr)
& Hydesville Tower School (Walsall)
– we extend our thanks to them for making the effort to come along and
join us.
We had a great time each of
the three days with a chance to worship, read the bible, pray,
reflect, discover and be creative!
It was a
great opportunity for the children to hear about the love of
Jesus and the interest He has in all of our lives.
The children
also went into groups to do a varied programme of craft work,
from sculpting in clay to calligraphy writing
to drama to tile painting & stained glass window-making!
It was a very special time.
Open Door was organised and
run by Gary Daniel & Sue Fung along with a multitude of
volunteers - without whom it would have
been impossible to run – So, another GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all who
volunteered their time to come and help these
children to discover more about our church and the love that
Christ has for everyone.
