June 22nd - 24th 2007 was our Pathfinder weekend.
The plan was to take our youngsters to Beaudesert and camp
from the friday until the sunday afternoon. Various activities were
planned and all was set for a great weekend.
British weather being what it is, all the camp equipment was loaded
on the lorry and transported in the pouring
rain to the site. On arrival, the camp site was water logged, it was
still sheeting down and the forecast from the BBC Weather Centre was
abysmal for the rest of the weekend, with loads more rain and
lightening threatened.
The difficult decision was taken to abandon camping, and to take
over Aldridge Parish Church to sleep and eat in.
A fresh programme of activities was swiftly planned, including trips
to Sutton Park, and Star City for bowling and a cinema trip to see
Shrek 3.
Apart
from the church clock chiming on the hour, every hour throughout the
night! a fantastic time was had by all and much is owed to the
dedicated leadership team in averting was could have been a
disappointing weekend.
Our
grateful thanks to Matt & Gemma Wallace, Alison Trimmer, Dave Ford
and Jon Callear for giving our youngsters an amazing time together.
