Open Door -
Aldridge Parish Church Tuesday 14th - Thursday 16th November 2006
What an
amazing time we had at the first session of Open Door (not to be
confused with Open Doors which is to do with the persecuted
church)
Open Door is an initiative that was started about 11 years ago in
Aldridge Parish Church by Jean Elliott and has continued ever since.
The morning was led by Gary Daniel and Maxine and a multitude of church
family helpers.
The church had invited five local primary schools to send some of their
pupils (about 80/100 for each session) into church to learn a little about
God, His church
and the love that He has for us all. There was a time of worship with
our 'Rockin' Rector - Richard Cornfield on electric guitar, Mike Clarke
on bass guitar,
Alison Trimmer on the piano and Matt Wallace on drums.
After belting out 'My God is a great big God', and 'I'm inright -
outright -upright - happy through and through' (which went down very
well!), Gary and Maxine
led some
more worship, bible reading and prayer and explaining just what the
church is all about, and the love that Christ has for everyone.
It was a great opportunity for the children to hear about the love of
Jesus and the interest He has on all our lives.
The children then went into groups to do a varied programme of craft
work, from sculpting in clay; calligraphy writing; and painting and
creating.
It was very special.
Thank you to the schools for allowing this to happen and thank you too
for all those involved organising and supervising.
Below are a few pictures of the Tuesday morning session with pupils from
St James' School in Brownhills and Walsall Wood Primary School.
