On the home front the flying at Mercy Air is picking up and Paul has been particularly busy these last couple of weeks. Most of the flying has actually been for Zululand Mission Air Transport (ZUMAT) another mission organisation who do air ambulance and flying doctor services and whom we have been working closely with these last few years. He spent most of last week hopping round small dirt strips in N. Natal. Here's a pic of one short strip surrounded by 100ft high trees - it was a bit like landing in a shoebox! Mercy Air are hoping to partner with Mission Aviation Fellowship in starting regular weekly flights for the mission community in Mozambique. The groundwork for this is proving to be fairly extensive involving trips for meetings in Maputo and Jo'burg as well as occupying much of Paul's time in the office when he's not flying. Cathy hasn't been far from her medical bag recently and has delivered two babies in the last week - both homebirths. The first was a mammoth 24 hour session resulting in a baby boy who made his entrance with one hand up on the side of his head and with the chord round his neck. Today's was a far more standard three hour job to reveal a mammoth baby boy (9.3 pounds). |
