Mercy Air Ops |
|
January
2006
Dear All,
It was a quite Saturday afternoon (Jan 14), when Ron received a call from Ricky at Vida Plus. They needed to organize air transport to evacuate a German man that works in Mozambique. Four days earlier this man came down with cerebral malaria, which is the most deadly of all malaria types. Cerebral malaria often kills people within 24 hours. God has protected this man from highly probable death. VidaPlus, a private emergency medical company in Mozambique, was called upon to organize the medical transport of this patient. In turn they contacted us for the flight portion of the operation.
Ron & I, along with 2 paramedics, departed first thing the next morning to bring this passenger back to South Africa for better health care. After a two and a half hour flight we loaded Wolfgang and were on our way. The passenger seemed stable and did not require too much extra medical attention during the flight. The weather was beautiful and the flight back to South Africa was smooth. This is a very good thing when you are carrying ill passengers (as you can imagine). Another two and a half hours in flight and we were safely on the ground in South Africa. Mercy Air’s strategic location near a high quality hospital has paid off again. When the passenger arrived at the hospital he was admitted immediately into Intensive Care (ICU) for monitoring. After the first day of monitoring and medication, he was moved out of ICU and into a normal room. As far as we know, he has recovered fine. Another life critically impacted by your support and prayers!
