Hello dear friend,
Just a quick update...Thank you for your prayers.
I discovered the surgeon found quite a bit of arthritis in my knee. He worked
also on a damaged ligament near the kneecap, as well as dealing with the torn
meniscus. I hadn't known about the second procedure and the long walks and the
stairs during early recovery caused my pain problem. God answered prayer. I
rested and now my knee is much better, although it complains if I drive or walk
a long way. I am no longer a lady with a limp.
Please pray my knee holds up well in England...I leave tomorrow. I'm using
frequent flier miles so will go via North Carolina, making the travel a little
longer. It is always tiring to drive to Christchurch after an overnight flight,
so I would appreciate your prayers.
My mother is up and down health-wise, and somewhat confused. She is in the
hospital and doctors are trying to find causes for her inability to eat and her
sickness. My faithful friends who visit her tell me she is much more herself,
though weak. Though I am very relieved she is doing better, I am concerned that
she will insist on going home again and go downhill as before. I believe a rest
home is the best solution. Her mobile home is cold and not in wonderful shape,
although she loves it more than any place. Pray for God's clear provision and
direction, please---for my mother to be willing to accept help and for her
doctor and social services to see her need. I may have to sell her mobile home
(with her agreement, of course) to raise funds for her care. I go in
trepidation, needing to see God do miracles for her, and for me. We are still
hoping she will trust God and know His help and comfort. She may have turned to
Him more than we know. Pray for my health, physical and emotional, as I do all I
am able to help her.
David and I will continue working together on Papua New Guinea publicity
materials, but it will be by Internet and email. He will work at my house still
two days a week. While in England I'll be trying to catch up on correspondence,
also, in between working to find solutions for my mother.
I really need your help. This is the toughest time in my mother's life and I'm
finding it very hard as well. Thank you for holding the ropes as I climb in
faith up a huge vertical cliff face---or so it seems to me---to help her.
Lots of love and thanks,
June
