PRAYER CALENDAR - Iglesia Anglicana Paraguaya – May 2006
Pray continually 1 Thess.5:17
1 Pray for the first meeting of the new Diocesan Executive tomorrow afternoon & for the meeting with Chaco leaders & pastors in the morning. For wisdom in decisions over the implementation of Synod resolutions.
2 Pray for the united CALEB meeting tomorrow with leaders from the Chaco & Concepcion & for the deepening of our unity in Christ. For safety in travel.
3 Give thanks for the encouraging Easter activities in San Juan, Concepcion. Pray for pastor Guillermo as he leads regular discipleship groups there & also plans visits to homes in the area with a small evangelistic team. For his wife Rossi & the family. For safety in travel each week & for the group in Yvapobo.
4 Give thanks for all the volunteers preparing to come through Project Paraguay this year. Pray for the Paraguayan team meeting tomorrow to discuss & plan many of the practical details. For discernment over the first stages in the construction of the retreat centre in Emboscada. For sufficient funds for each project – in Concepcion, La Patria, Chaco & Emboscada.
5 Pray for wisdom over the development of ministry in Quyquyho with many difficulties to overcome – distance, earth roads, vehicles, high costs & regular leadership & visits. For the release of funds for meals for local children.
6 Pray for pastor Agustin & Teresa & the San Andres congregation. For wisdom over the organization of a team to cater for the many underprivileged children arriving each Sunday. For a wise balance with the existing Sunday School.
7 Pray for indigenous patients in hospital in Asuncion & give thanks for those who have been able to return to the Chaco. For Beryl Baker in her clinic, the health auxiliaries in each community & for Osvaldo as he liaises with them. For the provision of a well equipped hospital in the Chaco.
8 Two groups of students from St. Andrew’s School are visiting El Estribo this week. Pray for God’s protection in travel & on site & for good communication in the communities. For a spiritual awakening in the students & a greater understanding of the Chaco reality & needs. For the leaders alongside them.
9 Pray for those baptized & confirmed recently in Zeballos Cue & give thanks for several contacted through the follow up to the supermarket fire in 2004. Pray for pastor Alberto & the team involved in the new “comedor” (meals) for children.
10 Give thanks for new people in the morning & evening congregations in Concepcion & for recent commitments to Christ. Pray for the discipleship groups & for Javier & Mirian as they work alongside Alison in preparation for Alison’s departure in July.
11 Pray for Tim Curtis & the translation team as they leave for the second United Bible Society workshop in Lima. For protection for their families in Rio Verde during their absence & for Genaro & Clorinda & family in the care of the Anglican Centre. For the church congregation in Rio Verde.
12 Pray for a deep spiritual breakthrough in the fourteen 3rd Year FEISA students. Give thanks for the testimony of committed Christians amongst the 25 1st year students & pray for them & the teaching & administrative staff in the faculty.
13 Pray for growth in commitment in new people attending Villa Guarani church. For several working through marriage/family difficulties or negative spiritual experiences in the past. For pastor Tony & Chris & lay leaders, Jorge & Coto.
14 Pray for bishop John & Ed Brice and the study week for indigenous leaders in Rio Verde starting tomorrow. For each pastor, deacon and pastoral assistant & their families.
15 Pray for Claire, her team & for the children’s groups in Concepcion. For those children who are under pressure from parents to withdraw from evangelical teaching, that they may have freedom to attend the meetings.
16 Pray for the young people who attended the recent EJE weekend. For Patrick & Rosie & their leadership team in the follow up meetings & personal contacts.
17 Pray too for the visit of Cesar Guzman this weekend (20-21) to lead a Bible Overview course with university students from the different congregations. For God’s overruling on all the practical details so that many can attend.
18 The EMA weekend begins tomorrow evening. Pray for each couple (max. 30), for the testimony couples & the large support team. Give thanks for the good response of this team & pray for God’s protection & peace.
19 Pray for the pastors, deacons & lay leaders in the many Chaco congregations. For Mari Brice as she visits & encourages the Sunday School teachers & for Ed in his pastoral & teaching visits to the indigenous communities.
20 Give thanks for the work done by David Powell to produce a book on the history of the Anglican ministry in the Paraguayan Chaco. Pray for Ed Brice as he coordinates with David & for the funds needed to produce the book. Give thanks for David’s recovery from a very serious health problem last year.
21 Pray for God’s strength for the staff at Esperanza Foster Home & for his protection on baby Sofia as she begins a new life with her adoptive parents. For a good team of volunteers to enable times of rest for Juana & her colleagues.
22 Pray for pastor Cefe & Ana, pastor Luis & Regina & the congregation in Roque Alonso. For the ministries in El Mirador & Remansito & for wisdom over outreach in Limpio & out towards Emboscada. For wisdom & strength for Babs Owen as she works alongside the young people.
23 Pray for God’s grace & guidance for each of the teaching staff at St. Andrew’s and the Annexe Schools, both in their professional capacity & in their opportunities for Christian example & teaching. Give thanks for their faithful commitment. Pray for Linn Tedman as she reintegrates after a time in the UK.
24 Pray for the young people in the Luque congregation & for Esteban & Lidi as they support them. For pastor Jorge & Rebeca, their church council & the implementation of studies in the “Purpose driven church”. Pray for Christian habits to be formed in a society which has only recently heard the gospel.
25 Pray for God’s mercy on the nation of Paraguay in the midst of confusion & unrest, in its stagnant economy & great lack of employment. For a change of attitude within the ruling & opposition leaders to seek the country’s welfare.
26 Pray for sufficient funds to pay stipends this month & support the church’s ministry in this diverse diocese. Pray for wisdom for SAMS & those who give help from overseas as we work out our interdependence. For the finance team.
27 Give thanks for the ministry of Canon Philip King, SAMS General Secretary (1974-86) who died this month. Pray for strength for Dr. Margaret & the family.
28 Pray for bishops John & Andres & for God’s guidance over future episcopal leadership. For prayerful discussion throughout the diocese.
29 Pray for Chris Hawksbee’ ministry in the indigenous communities. For greater understanding & perseverance amongst the leaders & for the bakery project in Karanda, El Estribo. For Alison & the family.
30 Pray for the ministry among children & adolescents in San Lorenzo & for God’s guidance over the right place for its development.
31 Pray for Feliciano & Donald in their theological studies & for those in Paso & Paso & local study courses. For a daily dependence on God’s Word.
