PRAYER CALENDAR

Paraguaya - MARCH 2006
Lamentations 3:23 “ Great is your faithfulness”
1 Give thanks for Beryl Baker’s safe return to Paraguay after the death of her brother David & for David’s commitment to Christ. Pray for Beryl as she returns to the Chaco & for Rebecca Little, a nurse from Cheltenham, as she accompanies Beryl in the clinic there. Pray also for God’s strength for Linn Tedman still undergoing medical tests in the UK. For a speedy return.
2 The World Day of Prayer services take place in 170 countries around the world tomorrow. Pray & give thanks for this opportunity to share in prayer with Christians from different denomination & intercede on behalf of the nation of South Africa.
3 Give thanks for a full complement of staff & a good start to the academic year at St. Andrew’s & the Annexe Schools. Pray for good concentration & effort for the pupils this month & for God’s protection over each person, piece of equipment & buildings.
4 Pray for great wisdom & sensitivity for School Head, Gwen Carlisle & the Senior Management Team as they rewrite school rules, as required by the Ministry of Education to comply with recent legislation on Children’s Rights, without compromising the school’s Christian basis & objectives.
5 Pray for the team working in Concepcion. Give thanks for 8 young people in San Juan who are studying the “Abundant Life” course following on from the Youth Camp in January. For pastor Guillermo as he makes regular visits there & for lay leaders Don Toto & Sra. Aparicia.
6 Give thanks for the study week for indigenous leaders last month & pray for the pastors & lay leaders in the different communities as they prepare for the Synod meetings later this month. For God’s wisdom over what measure of support can be given to the many pastoral assistants & how indigenous land can be developed to provide more food & income for the families.
7 Tomorrow the weekly CALEB leaders’ meetings restart in Asuncion after the summer break. Pray for each of the pastors & Mission Partners & their families.
8 Pray for the pupils & the accompanying staff, as the St. Andrew’s Primary school camp starts today, that it may be a unifying experience. For those leading & for safety in travel & on site.
9 Pray for the financial resources needed in the diocese where the majority of church members are on low or irregular incomes. For God’s provision to cover salaries for national workers, transport, maintenance costs & theological studies.
10 Give thanks for the big response to the first EJE follow up meeting last month. Pray for wisdom for Patrick & Rosie & their team as they disciple & challenge these young people. For wise decisions over the number of EJE weekends to take place this year & for follow up for university students. For God to raise up more leaders in these ministries.
11 Pray for the Mission Partners & associate M.Ps as we meet together for a barbecue today. Give thanks for this opportunity to catch up with each other after the summer break & also share in fellowship & prayer. For each of the family members, especially those now in their teenage years as they face the pressures of globalization & its anti Christian values.
12 Give thanks & pray for the newly formed leadership team alongside Patrick & Rosie & pastor Agustin & Teresa, in the San Andres evening congregation – Raquel, Donald, Hannah, Norman & Andy & for the retreat taking place this weekend. For a steady growth in commitment to Christ and his church by those who attend.
13 Two more babies have joined the three toddlers in the Esperanza Foster Home. Pray for Juana, Carmen & Gloria and their helpers as they care for them & for God’s blessing on the staff devotional times together. For wisdom for Murray & Penny in the overall coordination.
14 Pray for the retreat day tomorrow for pastors & leaders as we pray & consider the next steps to be taken in preparation for the Synod & future episcopal leadership in the diocese. Pray for God’s Holy Spirit to give us vision, wisdom & discernment. For safe travel for those attending from Concepcion. Pray too for the St. Andrew’s 7-8th grade school camp starting tomorrow.
15 Give thanks for successful eye surgery for several indigenous patients, including Bible translator Asuncion’s wife Cipriana. Pray for their ongoing recuperation & for funds to cover surgery for other patients. Give thanks for the ministry of “Vision” which covers part of the costs involved. Pray for Osvaldo Recalde as he organizes & accompanies indigenous patients in Asuncion.
16 Pray for those recently Confirmed in the Zeballos Cue congregation & give thanks for contacts made with families who suffered through the supermarket fire, over a year ago. Pray for pastor Alberto, Ester & family & for the newly elected church council, as they move forward with different plans for integrated mission in the community, including discipleship, a children’s feeding programme, dental care & advice and help for young couples to buy land & build houses through Habitat. Pray for God to provide finance to buy the land needed & give thanks that Mary, a coordinator with Habitat, is a member of the congregation & can give good advice.
17 Pray for the ongoing preparation for the Diocesan Synod (23-25 March) & for God’s guidance in the choice of those who will be elected to the Diocesan Executive.
18 Give thanks that a suitable plot of land for an Anglican retreat centre near to Asuncion has been purchased through the generosity of a church in the UK. Pray for wisdom over the stages for its development & for the visits of volunteers to help in this through Project Paraguay later this year. Pray for Phil Grainger, David Orritt & their team as they plan & prepare in the UK & for the counterpart group in Paraguay. For good communication & wise decision making.
19 Give thanks for Samuel Gonzalez’ great improvement in health after his chemotherapy treatment. Pray for him, his wife Sara & their family & for pastor Jorge, Rebeca & the congregation in Luque. For the newly elected church council members.
20 Pray for the right number of students for the first year intake at FEISA. For wisdom & strength for Sra. Estela & her staff & for the 2nd & 3rd Year students continuing their course. Give thanks for Fiona Cooper’s integration into the team & pray for Samantha Parsons as she reintegrates after several months away in the UK.
21 Pray for pastor Tony & Chris as they reorganize the ministry to children in Villa Guarani church. For support from parents to form a team to cater for the wide age range. Pray too for Marina, a 15yr old girl suffering deep trauma from negative past experiences. For wise counselling, that the awareness of God’s love for her may reach deep into her mind & emotions.
22 Pray for the preparations for the next EMA weekend, now planned for 12-14 May & for the REMA one day event on April 1st. For the leadership team, especially for renewed strength & health for Miriam de Greco. For the St. Andrew’s 9th Grade camp starting today.
23 Pray for the Synod delegates arriving today from different parts of Paraguay. For God’s Holy Spirit to work in & through us over these next few days & for a growing unity & vision between us all, despite the cultural differences.
24 Pray for God’s peace as the Synod begins & for an openness to wait on God & receive from Him. For God’s guidance in the reports & group discussion & awareness of his vision for the Anglican Church in Paraguay.
25 Pray for the congregation in Formosa. For Gloria Rodriguez following her 3rd stroke, for her family & for God’s provision for their financial needs. For discernment & clarity in leadership in the diocese of Northern Argentina & for the ministry of presiding bishop Greg Venables.
26 Pray for the ministry among children & young people in Concepcion. Give thanks for land to develop the children’s club in Barrio Imaculada, with sufficient space to construct an indigenous hostel. Pray for Claire & Alison, working alongside bishop Andres & the team there. Pray too for the ministry in areas outside Concepcion – San Juan, Tacuati, Santa Elisa & that God will raise up leaders in Yvapobo & Horqueta
27 Pray for Tim Curtis & the translation team & for the role of Enxet readers & checkers, that their comments would enhance the quality of the translation of the Old Testament into Enxet. Pray for Genaro’s & the translators’ children living in the Rio Verde Anglican Centre. For their safety, schooling & spiritual development. For the congregation in Rio Verde & the resiting of the church building. For the lay leaders & those who visit from Asuncion.
28 Pray for Sharon McCreerie & others as they develop a study centre to encourage students at the Annexe school & also provide temporary accommodation when needed. For wisdom over the official links with the Secretariat for Children & Young People.
29 Give thanks for the ministry through St. Andrew’s church to English speaking residents & visitors to Asuncion. Pray for Stephen & Eileen, Murray & Penny as with others, they head up this work & give thanks for many who have found Christ & been strengthened in their faith.
30 Pray for Chris & Alison Hawksbee & family. Give thanks for God’s protection on Chris as he travels widely in the Chaco & pray for wisdom as he encourages the indigenous leaders.
31 Pray for the preparations underway for the centenary celebrations in Makxawaya & for pastor Juan Sosa, Romualdo Rojas & the church council. For good relationships with the political leaders & health auxiliaries in the community & for God’s protection on the young people.
