                                                            Prayer Calendar -  Iglesia Anglicana Paraguaya  - July 2006

 Hebrews 12:1-2 “…let us run with perseverance the race marked out  for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus………….” NIV

 1        Pray for bishop Andres & Estela & the team in Concepcion, giving thanks for the safe arrival of pastor Guillermo & Rossi’s baby. Pray for Alison as she says farewell in the services tomorrow before returning to N. Ireland.  Give thanks for her dedicated, loving & fruitful ministry amongst the young people in Concepcion. For Javier & Mirian as they continue the ministry.

2        Pray for wisdom & creativity in the planning meetings this week for Project Paraguay.  For good understanding between us all & for the finance needed to complete the different projects in the Chaco, Concepcion & Asuncion. For strength & safe travel for Phil & David as they set up practical arrangements.

3        Pray too for Suzanne Potter – SAMS GB Youth Coordinator who is visiting Asuncion this week & for the meeting on Wednesday with diocesan leaders & pastors. For vision & clarity over ongoing mutual support.  For the Home staff of SAMS & for God’s provision of the financial needs as they support the church in South America.

4        Pray for the preparations for the centenary celebrations in Makxawaya in September & the repairs to the church building. Also for the finance needed to print the book on the history of Anglican work in the Paraguayan Chaco prepared by David Powell and Ed Brice.

5        Give thanks for the regular visits by students from FEISA to the indigenous community of Yatnata.  Pray for perseverance & insight for the Enxet women as they learn to teach & motivate their small children. Also for the primary school teachers there & wisdom over meeting the need for secondary education.

6        Give thanks for God’s strength & wisdom for bishops John & Andres in dealing with a serious pastoral problem in the diocese & pray for God’s guidance for the pastor & his family & the local congregation as we move slowly forward in the process of reconciliation & restoration.

7        Give thanks for many couples attending the EMA follow up meetings. Pray for growth in understanding of biblical truths that they may build up their marriages on a firm spiritual basis.  For pastor Tony & Chris & the EMA leaders.

8        Pray for the staff & pupils of St. Andrew’s & the Annex Schools as the winter holidays begin.  For good physical & spiritual refreshment & safety in travel.

9        Pray for pastors Cefe & Luis & their families & their ministry in Roque Alonso,  Mirador & Remansito.  For the volunteers who are staying with them now whilst working on the first stages of the new Anglican Centre in Emboscada.  Give thanks for this new beginning & pray that God will use it to consolidate the work of all the local congregations & for evangelistic outreach in Emboscada.

10   Pray for safety & strength for Beryl Baker in her Chaco clinic & give thanks for the support of volunteer Helen Clemence.  Pray for Aparicia & Cristina & other indigenous patients under treatment in Asuncion.  For Osvaldo as he liaises with the hospitals & indigenous agencies. For finance to support the patients.

11   Pray for the leaders & congregations in El Estribo. Give thanks for Eusebio & Anibal’s witness as teachers & church leaders in San Carlos. Pray for the production of materials in Enxet through the Ministry of Education.

12   Pray for the young people & leaders in the Luque congregation & for the Conference taking place in Asuncion for youth leaders. For pastor Jorge & Rebeca.

13   Give thanks for the congregations in the UK who support Tim Curtis & the Old Testament translation project & pray for the 3 translators & for others who read & check the work. For God’s protection over Tim & the Enxet families living in the AnglicanCentre in Rio Verde.

14   Give thanks for the large number of young people who attend the EJE follow up meetings. Pray for Patrick & Rosie & their team as they present the gospel to them. For a growing awareness of God’s purposes for their lives leading to a commitment to Christ & his church.

15   Continue to pray for the Project Paraguay volunteers in Concepcion & Emboscada (Asuncion). Give thanks for this opportunity to share across different cultures & experience Christian fellowship. For their safety on site & in travel. For leaders Phil Grainger & David Orritt.

16   Pray for the congregation in Villa Guarani. For God’s provision for the 2^nd stage of the building project to provide multipurpose rooms for Sunday School, EMA ministry & counseling sessions. For the preparations for the next EMA weekend, 25-27 August

17   Pray for the special meetings this week in Rio Verde between urban & Chaco pastors & leaders as they pray & discuss future Episcopal leadership in the diocese.  For openness to God’s will.

18   Pray for Claire & the ministry amongst children in Concepcion & its surrounding areas. For greater contacts with the families & a spiritual breakthrough so that the light of the gospel may shine & transform those who are caught up in folk religion & idolatry.

19   Pray for the staff & students at FEISA in their demanding variety of courses. Pray too that the Degree course documents which are going before the University Board will be accepted.

20   Give thanks for the Ludoteca for children organized by FEISA students in Zeballos Cue & pray for wisdom for the leaders& congregation there, as they follow up contacts made through this & the weekly Saturday lunch for needy children.  For the development of dental care in the area.

21   Pray for the pastors, deacons & leaders in the many Chaco congregations & for their in service training.  For strength & wisdom for Ed Brice & bishop John in the regular study times in Rio Verde. Pray for pastor Juan & Alicia Sosa in Makxawaya & for healing for their son Neri who has a complicated leg fracture & a calcium deficiency in his body.

22   Pray for the farewell services for the Project Paraguay volunteers in Concepcion & Roque Alonso tomorrow & for safety as they travel back home. Give thanks for their willingness to be alongside & share with Paraguayan Christians. For other volunteers preparing to come out to Paraguay next Saturday 29^th July to continue the projects.

23   As the second term restarts tomorrow, pray for God’s protection & strength for all the staff & their families at St. Andrew’s & the Annexe Schools, especially those suffering health problems.  For sufficient teaching staff to cover all the classes this term & also for the following year.

24   Give thanks for the many children receiving a regular meal each day in Quyquyho & pray for strength & perseverance for Maria Luisa & her helpers. For wisdom over the development of the Christian ministry there & for God’s protection for Osvaldo & his family.

25   Pray for Feliciano & Donald in their full time theological studies & for those who attend the regular Paso a Paso lay leader’s course with bishop John on Wednesday evenings. Give thanks for their participation in the life of local congregations.

26   Pray for good health for the staff & babies at Esperanza Foster Home & for God’s blessing & protection on those babies who have been integrated into new families this year. For strength & wisdom for Murray & Penny Metcalfe as they oversee the home alongside their many other commitments.

27   Pray for the ministry to English speaking residents & visitors through St. Andrew’s Church. For encouragement for Stephen & Eileen, Murray & Penny & for new contacts to be made.

28   Give thanks for the many children reached through regular programmes in Roque Alonso, Remansito, Mirador, San Lorenzo & Zeballos Cue. Pray for resources to continue to develop this vital ministry & give thanks & pray for all those who dedicate themselves to it.

29   Pray too for Mari Brice’s work amongst Sunday School teachers in several Chaco communities & pray for God’s word to be faithfully preached & taught each week.  For Ed Brice in his teaching role both in the Chaco & in Asuncion.

30   Pray for pastor Agustin & Teresa & their ministry in San Andres & for Patrick & Rosie in the evening congregation there, focused more towards young people.  For the building up of a team ministry in the centre of Asuncion & the integration of young people contacted through EJE.

31     Pray for the diocese of Northern Argentina as they seek to appoint new Episcopal leadership. For God’s guidance for bishop Tito Zavala, pastor Andres Lenton & Sra Aida as they begin the selection process.  For the congregation in Formosa & for wisdom over its pastoral oversight.
