Prayer Calendar – Iglesia Anglicana Paraguaya - February 2006
James 5:8 “You too, be patient and stand firm because the Lord’s coming is near.”
Give thanks for an encouraging time at the Provincial Youth Camp & a safe return, despite the lack of airconditioning for the entire 30 hour journey in very high temperatures! Pray for the participation of the young people back in their local churches.
Give thanks for a successful throat operation for Hilaria – pray for her now back in the Yatnata community. Pray also for the family of Tito Garcia, who died on Jan 15th after a courageous struggle to recover from major heart surgery. Pray for the away day for FEISA personnel tomorrow.
Pray for the Diocesan Youth Camp starting today – for Patrick & the team of leaders & those speaking in the sessions. For safety for all, both in travel & on site. Give thanks for Raquel Greco’s stay in Ireland & her safe return.
Pray for discernment in the interviewing process for this year’s students in FEISA. For Sra. Estela, the Dean, & her staff. Also for Caroline who returns to Asuncion tomorrow & for Samantha who remains in the UK until March, following the death of her father.
Pray for the final service & activities at the Diocesan Youth Camp today & for the services in local churches both in the cities & the Chaco. Pray for the young people in Makxawaya, especially those who support pastor Juan Sosa & his assistant Romualdo Rojas. For God’s strength to witness in the community.
Tomorrow the administrative, maintenance & teaching staff of St. Andrew’s School recommence the academic year. Pray for wisdom & vision for Gwen Carlisle, the Head, Deputy Head Mags Southern & the Senior Management Team & for the preparation & training days this week for the staff. Pray too for God’s hand on Linn Tedman as she undergoes medical tests in London tomorrow & for her speedy return to Paraguay.
Pray for Ed & Mari Brice as they reintegrate into their ministry here after home ministry in the UK & for the preparations for the Study week in the Chaco 20-24 Feb. For the Sunday School teachers in the Chaco churches & Mari’s contact with them.
Give thanks for abundant rain in the Chaco this summer & for a good harvest of water melons and beans. Pray for investigations by Chris Hawksbee & indigenous leaders to trace underground reserves of drinking water & for wisdom over the marketing of honey from the Chaco.
Pray for Tony & Chris Somervell & family as they prepare to return to Asuncion after home ministry leave. For their reintegration into the church in Villa Guarani & preparations for the forthcoming EMA weekend in March.
Continue to pray for more workers for the Chaco ministry & for guidance for those who are testing out possibilities for long term service. Pray too for those who offer short term medical help to accompany Beryl Baker in her clinic.
Give thanks for a donation to buy a sound system for San Andres church in the centre of Asuncion, which will allow the services to take place there once again. Pray for wisdom as the acoustic challenges are studied & for the right equipment & good installation. For pastor Agustin, Teresa & family. Praise God for the wonderful way he has provided, step by step, for the major work which was needed on the building & on the site around it.
Give thanks for the work done by the Enxet translators during 2005 which included restructuring earlier drafts of Genesis, Exodus & Joshua, & for the opportunity to rest during the heat of the summer. Pray for safe travel for Tim Curtis as he shortly returns from his holiday & for Genaro & Clorinda & family as they look after the Anglican Centre in Rio Verde.
Although the summer holidays are over, the summer heat & humidity continue. Pray that we may all establish good priorities for our work this year & use our time & energy wisely.
The need for Beryl Baker to be in the UK due to the deteriorating health of her brother, highlighted the desperate need for greater medical care in the Chaco region. In January there were sometimes more than 100 patients waiting at her clinic. Pray for a breakthrough within the Ministry of Health so that this need is at last recognized & properly addressed.
Pray for the pupils & staff at St. Andrews & the Annexe Schools as school term starts tomorrow. Also for church families on very low incomes in the Zeballos Cue & Remansito areas as they try to provide the necessary books, pencils, clothes etc for their children in the state schools.
Pray for the Enxet teachers in El Estribo & La Herencia who are finishing a reading book for 2º Grade, completing illustrations, checking & revising the text, as part of the state rural schools programme. For good working relationships between them & the supervising team visiting from Asuncion.
Pray for Patrick & Rosie & their team as the EJE follow up meetings on Saturdays restart after the summer break. Also for wisdom over a visit to Chile to experience TEK – a weekend programme which follows on from EJE for older young people.
Pray for the services in the local churches tomorrow – for each of the pastors & their families & for the lay leaders who work closely with them.
The study week in Rio Verde begins today – pray for the indigenous church leaders from many different communities who will attend & for bishop John & Ed Brice as they lead the sessions. For safety in travel & in the Anglican Centre.
Give thanks for the work of the Esperanza Foster Home & for the little ones who have already been adopted. Pray for the new babies recently arrived & for Penny & Murray, Juana & Gloria in the daily running of the Home. For more helpers to share the workload.
Pray for God’s continued guidance for Sharon McCreerie & others, as they plan the next stages of development for a recently acquired property to be used as a hostel in Asuncion.
Pray for the preparations for CALEB & Paso a Paso which recommence in March. Pray that God will raise up more & more leaders prepared to commit themselves to study God’s Word & teach others.
Pray also for the preparations for the Synod 23-25 March, that it may be a time of vision, fellowship & encouragement for all the delegates from the Asuncion, Concepcion & Chaco congregations.
Pray for bishop Andres & the team in Concepcion & their ministry to children over a very wide area. Also for the work amongst young people in the city centre & the contacts building up with local schools.
Pray for bishop John as he travels on from Rio Verde to El Estribo this morning to visit the Dos Palmas & Paratodoí communities. For God’s blessing on all who will be Confirmed in the service tomorrow morning.
Give thanks for continued donations to assist young people from low income families in secondary & tertiary education. Pray for each student, giving thanks for the good results achieved last year & for those who will commence studies this year.
Give thanks that two young people from the Formosa congregation were able to attend the Provincial Camp in Bolivia. Pray for them & other leaders there & for discernment & clarity in diocesan leadership in Northern Argentina.
Pray for Phil Grainger, David Orritt & Denis Johnston in the coordination of Project Paraguay for this year. For good communication between us all & clear guidelines for the volunteers who come to help us.
