                                       PRAYER CALENDAR  -   Iglesia Anglicana Paraguaya   -  April 2006

          1 Tim.2:1   “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone..”

     1.        Give thanks for the Diocesan Synod meetings. Pray for the newly elected Diocesan Executive Committee – Bishops John &         Andres; pastors Ceferino & Agustin; Mags Southern & Rita Carnavale; & Chaco reps: pastor Elvio & Mario Caballero.   For the ongoing plans to implement the Resolutions passed in the Synod.  Todays REMA meeting has been postponed.  Pray for the preparations for the next EMA weekend – now put forward to 19-20 May due to a clash of dates at the retreat centre.

2.       Pray for the plans for this year’s Project Paraguay – in Concepcion, Chaco & Emboscada.  For the volunteers preparing to come; for leaders Phil Grainger & David Orritt; for sufficient funds for each project; for the practical arrangements being made in Paraguay.

3.       Pray for the staff at St. Andrew’s and the Annexe School as the long summer heat & humidity has taken its toll of energy levels.  For encouragement & perseverance & clear vision from God.

4.       Pray for the weekly CALEB meeting for pastors & leaders – give thanks for this regular opportunity to study, discuss, pray & encourage each other. For the ongoing consultative process over the appointment of the next diocesan bishop & for prayerful discussions in local congregations throughout the diocese. For bishop John & Judie as they plan for retirement.

5.       Pray for those involved in theological studies – Feliciano & Donald, full time students in the Mennonite Seminary & for lay leaders in our Paso a Paso doctrine course.  For God to continue to raise up people to do further biblical studies & for the funding needed.

6.       Pray for the school’s Easter service tomorrow & for Patrick Butler speaking. Give thanks for the freedom to teach God’s word in both St. Andrew’s & the Annexe Schools & for the many ex pupils who continue in their Christian faith, some of whom now teach at the school.

7.       Give thanks for advances made in the Chaco in the use of the land in indigenous communities & pray for wisdom for Chris Hawksbee & church & community leaders in order to develop this & increase family income. Give thanks for recent rain & pray for a good harvest this year.

8.       Pray for the groups of young people in San Juan & Yvapobo studying  “Abundant Life” course with pastor Guillermo, & for the weekly services. For protection for pastor Guillermo as he travels the 50 -60 kms there & back to Concepcion each week. For his wife Rossi in his absence, for their family & for the baby expected in July.

9.       Give thanks for the work of Tim Curtis & the translation team in Rio Verde.   Pray for them as they check over the drafts of Deuteronomy, Judges & Nehemiah this month.  Give thanks for the financial support given by churches & individuals in the UK through the SAMS & pray that the costs may continue to be covered. For God’s protection over the Anglican Centre in Rio Verde & for good functioning of solar panels, computers, transformers & generators.

10.    The half term week begins today in St. Andrew’s School.  Pray for good rest for all the staff & pupils.  Pray too for bishop Andres & his team & the preparations for the evangelistic outreach in Barrio Inmaculada in Concepcion - 13-15 April.  Give thanks for the newly acquired land   & for the children’s club already functioning there. Pray for Claire & her team as they minister regularly to many children in Concepcion & the surrounding areas.

11.    Pray for the staff in the Diocesan Office – Teo Rivas, Adminstrator; Lina Gonzalez, Secretary & Receptionist; Zuny Maldonado,cleaner & Osvaldo Riquelme, Liaison with Chaco patients. For their daily protection & a clear Christian witness to all who visit the office.

12.    Pray for vision & strength for pastor Juan Sosa, assistant Romualdo & the church in Makxawaya. For Juan Martinez (Bible translator) & his music group as they visit that community this week. For Romualdo’s baby daughter awaiting surgery for a twisted foot.

13.     This year each urban congregation is arranging their own Easter week programme. Pray for the special meetings tomorrow & Good Friday in each area - for the Holy Spirit to awaken a deeper awareness of Christ’s once & for all sacrifice on the Cross & its meaning for each person.

14.    Pray for many indigenous patients in hospital in Asuncion so far from home. For Don Cacho; Diosnel,  Hilaria, for those with eye problems & many with TB.  Give thanks & pray for funds for the discretionary fund which help to pay the many costs not covered by any state entities. Pray for greater transparency & support from the national indigenous agency INDI.

15.    Pray for bishops John & Andres as they visit the Chaco this weekend. For key meetings tomorrow afternoon in El Estribo between pastors Lucio & Remigio & all their pastoral assistants. For God’s wisdom to resolve difficulties & bring deeper unity to the community.

16.    Pray for the nation of Paraguay - May the message of Christ’s resurrection be faithfully preached this Easter Day.  For the President, his wife & members of the Government.

17.     Give thanks for the ministry of Esperanza Foster Home & pray for the staff & the 5 children resident there. For God’s overruling over their adoption arrangements & for his protection over those babies who have already left the Home as they adapt to their new family life.

18.     Pray for Patrick & Rosie & their team in the preparations for the next EJE weekend – 28-30 April which will be larger than usual & not divided into two consecutive weekends. Pray for those attending the bi weekly follow up meetings & for a growing commitment to Christ & his church.

19.     Pray for more leaders to work amongst young people in the diocese & especially for a youth coordinator to motivate & organize between local congregations. For wisdom over the development of EJE in other areas of the diocese.

20.    Give thanks for the diocesan Finance team & pray for them & bishop John as they seek to meet salary commitments this year, in the midst of a stagnant national economy & a lower rate of exchange for the pound sterling. For vision & trust in God as pastors &congregations study biblical concepts of giving & for a new understanding of God’s call to us to be generous even when income is very limited.

21.    Pray for wisdom over the urgent need in the Chaco for improved primary & also secondary schooling, so that young people are not drawn away from their local communities.  Pray too for the congregation in Villa Guarani & for pastor Tony & Chris’ counseling ministry.

22.     Give thanks for the teaching visits to the Chaco last year by FEISA staff & students, in a pilot scheme to help Enxet mothers play with & stimulate their pre school age children.  Pray for the continuation of the work this year & for safety in travel for all involved.

23.    Pray for the increasing number of underprivileged children coming to San Andres church each week & for pastor Agustin & Teresa & the congregation as they feed, wash & share the gospel with them. For God to build up a team committed to this & to the Ludoteca (play library) ministry. For the leaders & congregation in the evening service with its greater emphasis on reaching young people.

24.    Pray for the work amongst children in San Lorenzo & for God’s timing in the way forward over the purchase of land for a centre there.  For strength for the team who continue faithfully to teach & encourage the youngsters there.

25.    Pray for God’s guidance for the bishops of the Southern Cone Province as they meet to pray & discuss together in Salta, N. Argentina. For wise decisions to be made & for safety in travel.

26.    Pray for the pastoral team at St. Andrew’s Church & for wisdom over outreach into the English speaking community.  For strength & creativity for those who minister to the children each Sunday & God’s guidance over plans for another Alpha course later on in the year.

27.    The EJE weekend starts tomorrow.  Pray for God’s protection & guidance for all leaders, supporting team & those who attend. Give thanks for the use of St. Andrew’s School premises & the willing support of the maintenance staff.

28.    Pray for Beryl Baker in her Chaco clinic & for Rebecca Little who is presently accompanying her. Give thanks for recent supplies brought in by the British Fire Brigade & pray that other donations may get safely through the customs without being damaged. Pray for adequate rest for Beryl after a long, hot summer period & for safety in travel.

29.    Pray for the pastors, deacons & lay leaders in the more isolated La Patria indigenous community. For wisdom over the use of their land to bring more income into the community.  For the preparations to build a church in Leona in August through the visit of Project Paraguay volunteers from the UK.

30.    Pray for wisdom in discerning the best way forward for the little congregation in Quyquyho.  Give thanks for the benefit received by the children & old people there through the provision of regular meals & pray for discernment & strength for Osvaldo, Maria Luisa & others involved in this project.
