Please focus
prayer on the Project Paraguay team - 54 people arriving during July and
August. Also for real rest and good health for the teachers and their families -
St. Andrew's and FEISA during the winter break. They have a long term ahead of
them afterwards!

PRAYER CALENDAR - Iglesia Anglicana Paraguaya - JULY 2005
2 Thess. 2:16-17 “ May our Lord...and God our Father who.... by his grace gave us eternal encouragement....encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.”
1 Pray for 3 members of Project Paraguay who arrive from New Zealand today & for the two projects starting in Zeballos Cue & Concepcion (San Juan). For Phil Grainger & David Orritt in their leadership & for the church members receiving the volunteers. For unity in the Holy Spirit despite language difficulties & for God’s protection over each person involved. Also give thanks for the life & ministry of elderly pastor Pancho Fernandez who died in Yatnata on June 24th.
2 Give thanks for the retreat last weekend for members of the San Andrés Youth service, a step towards greater commitment in the church. Pray for Patrick & Rosie, pastor Agustin & Teresa, & give thanks for Donald’s growing leadership in the group. Pray for Donald (from Argentina) & Caroline Venables (Bishop Greg’s daughter) as they prepare for their marriage later this year.
3 Today 8 more volunteers join Project Paraguay & travel to Concepcion. Pray for safety & good adjustment. Pray also for Samuel Gonzalez, a member of the Luque congregation, undergoing medical tests in Buenos Aires. For good diagnosis & treatment, & for Sara & the family in Luque.
4 Pray for Arsenio Martinez & Norma going through problems in the community in Makxawaya. Arsenio was training as a health auxiliary but has not shown sufficient responsibility in his work. Pray that God will guide them & bring reconciliation with others. For pastor Juan & assistant, Romualdo. For all the indigenous health auxiliaries in their demanding work in the communities.
5 Pray for the Friday follow up meetings after the EMA weekend. For pastor Tony & Chris as they meet with each couple who help lead the meetings. Give thanks & pray for Benicio & Miguela who are now attending Villa Guarani church after their EMA experience.
6 Pray for safety & smooth integration for 6 more volunteers who join Project Paraguay today. Pray too for a small leadership training course in Concepcion this month for those interested in ministry with young people. Pray for Alison & the group involved with “El Puente”. Give thanks for many young people contacted each week & for those who are now coming to the Sunday evening service.
7 Give thanks for interdenominational contacts in Quyquyho & the united service last month. Pray for wisdom in developing visits by pastors Cefe & Luis & others, to enable a good Christian impact in the town. For Osvaldo & María Luisa & for Dr. Haroldo, recently appointed as the doctor there.
8 Pray for 13 volunteers from Knockbreda, N.I. who join Project Paraguay today & for their integration in Zeballos Cue. For time also with Stephen & Eileen Trew who are link missionaries with the church. For pastor Alberto & Ester in their ministry in Zeballos Cue. For new families in the church & their studies in the Abundant Life course. For several church members who are ill, especially children with respiratory problem & for sufficient funds for medicines & attention.
9 The two week winter holiday break begins today. Pray for good rest & relaxation for the Senior Management, staff & pupils of St. Andrew’s & the Annexe School & for safety in travel.
10 Pray also for the protection & well being of all the children of SAMS Mission Partners, some of whom are now teenagers. For daytime work for Javier Brice as he starts evening university classes in Asuncion & for guidance for Neill Brice in his future work & study plans. For wisdom for Ed & Mari as they organize in-service training in the Chaco this month.
11 Pray for wisdom for the leaders & congregations in the many Chaco churches as they confront the lure of alcohol. Give thanks for Chris Hawksbee’s return & pray for the steady development of indigenous land so that this will give hope to the communities, especially to the young people.
12 Pray that the biblical teaching on working together in harmony will gradually change the inherited cultural emphasis of individual or family power seeking, amongst both indigenous & Paraguayan Christians. (I Cor 12 & Eph. 4) May God’s Word increasingly be our standard.
13 Give thanks & pray for new contacts amongst children in Concepcion through Claire’s English classes & for those who now come to the central kid’s Club. Pray for their parents & an opening for Bible Study with them & for Claire as she continues the grieving process after her mother’s death.
14 Give thanks for the growth of the work in Remansito & for the two doctors willing to offer free services to people there. Pray for sufficient funding for medicines & basic medical equipment. Pray for those who recently became Christians & for the work amongst children on Saturdays.
15 Give thanks for the studies in the Luque congregation on commitment in church membership. Pray for the preparations for Confirmation & a united commitment as a congregation on Sunday August 7th. For pastor Jorge, Rebeca & their family.
16 Pray for strength & wisdom for Bishop John & Judie & for adequate time for prayer & preparation for the second half of the year. For their family in the UK & in Paraguay.
17 Pray for all the volunteers with Project Paraguay who are working in Concepcion & Zeballos Cue. Give thanks for God’s love which draws us together as family, despite our different backgrounds.
18 Pray for the Chaco pastors & leaders as they make visits to & from different communities for the encouragement of church leaders & for evangelism & discipleship. Pray for funds to support this ministry & for stronger links with the indigenous communities of Nepoxen & Saría
19 Give thanks that the Paraguayan Anglican church now has official recognition under the new government regulations for non profit making entities. Pray for diocesan Treasurer Mags Southern & the Finance Team as they present the relevant figures each month. For God to supply our needs.
20 Pray for the children’s group in San Lorenzo each Saturday afternoon. For their leaders & for sufficient funds to buy the suitable plot of land which can be built on by Project Paraguay next year.
21 Give thanks for the lay leaders who faithfully attend the Paso a Paso course on Wednesday evenings. Pray for the building up of the leadership in the different urban congregations & for wisdom over those who should go on to full time ministry in the future.
22 Pray for the indigenous community leaders in the villages within Sombrero Piri : Yatnata, Palo Blanco, Nazaret, La Rosa Cue & Jerusalen, that there might be harmony between them & a desire to work for the good of the whole community. Pray for pastors Elvio & Teodoro as they advise them.
23 Pray for the staff & students at FEISA & for God’s overruling in the granting of permission for the degree course to start in April 2006. Pray too for positive answers to funding requests & give thanks to God for his faithfulness & provision during these first years of establishing the Faculty.
24 Give thanks for the “Christianity Explored” group which has met at St. Andrew’s Church. Pray for the spiritual well being of those who are now moving on to other countries & for wisdom to draw in other English speaking people who are on the fringe of church life. For Stephen & Eileen Trew in their leadership, together with Murray & Penny Metcalfe. For their families.
25 Pray for newly arrived teacher Samantha Lee as she settles in to St. Andrew’s School & for Pat Chapman as she takes a sabbatical in Asuncion, helping out at the School. Pray for all the staff, both Paraguayan & Mission Partners as they return after the winter break. Give thanks for the Mission Partners’ tremendous input into the different local churches.
26 Pray for the congregation in Roque Alonso preparing for “40 days with a Purpose” studying “The Purpose driven Life” by Rick Warren. For those who offer their homes for the studies & those who lead the groups. For pastors Cefe & Luis & the church council members. Pray for better health & strength for Priscila Guillen.
27 Pray for perseverance & vision for the congregation in Rio Verde & for the group forming in Nueva Mestre. Give thanks for those who visit regularly from Asuncion. Pray also for God’s protection over the people, buildings & equipment in the Anglican Centre in Rio Verde.
28 Give thanks for the helpful United Bible Society course in Peru attended by Tim & the 3 translators. Pray for Martin, Asuncion & Juan as they continue their work with the Old Testament. For strength & protection for Tim as he supports & guides them & for his contacts with the Ministry of Education. Give thanks that materials prepared by Tim in Enxet are being used in Chaco schools.
29 Pray for Alison as she seeks to form a worship group in Concepcion church. Give thanks for the provision of a bass guitar & for the small group of young people who continue their guitar classes. Pray for the pastoral team -Bishop Andres & Estela, Claire & Alison, Guillermo & Rossi & give thanks that pastor Guillermo is finishing his studies, to work full time in the church.
30 Pray for wisdom & discernment for Murray & Penny as they look for the right people to be in charge of the “Esperanza Foster Home” for babies awaiting adoption. Pray too for the Paraguayan Adoption centre as it works through recent problems, so that children receive loving care & attention.
31 Give thanks for Beryl Baker’s faithful ministry in her Chaco clinic. Pray for strength & protection for her & for adequate times of rest. For God to raise up others to work alongside her in the clinic.
